Os maranhenses que participarão da edição deste ano das Olimpíadas Escolares, categoria infantil (de12 a14 anos), embarcaram na tarde desta quinta-feira (8) rumo a cidade de João Pessoa (PB), sede da competição nacional. O evento será aberto nesta sexta-feira (9) e prossegue até o dia 18.
A delegação que representa o Maranhão tem patrocínio da Secretaria de Estado do Esporte e Lazer (Sedel) e é composta por 179 integrantes, entre atletas, técnicos e dirigentes – um chefe de delegação, três oficiais, dois fisioterapeutas e um jornalista.
“A Sedel está confiante em bons resultados porque todos que irão representar o Maranhão foram campeões da edição de 2011 dos Jogos Escolares Maranhenses (JEMs), competição organizada pela Secretaria. Esperamos que esta participação seja a melhor do nosso estado em uma competição nacional tão importante como esta”, declarou o secretário adjunto de Desporto Educacional da Sedel, Alim Maluf Neto.
Vale ressaltar que apenas parte da delegação, que corresponde a 86 pessoas, embarcou para a capital paraibana nesta quinta-feira (8). Foi o grupo que competirá nas modalidades individuais, disputadas até o dia 12. O segundo grupo, referente aos atletas das modalidades coletivas, viaja para João Pessoa somente no dia 13.
A delegação maranhense embarcou no Aeroporto Marechal Cunha Machado por volta das 16h30 no Voo 3569, da TAM, com destino à cidade de Recife. Da capital pernambucana, os representantes do Maranhão seguiram de ônibus até João Pessoa.
Olimpíadas Escolares
As Olimpíadas Escolares são organizadas e realizadas pelo Comitê Olímpico Brasileiro, correalizadas pelo Ministério do Esporte, com a direção técnica das Confederações Brasileiras Olímpicas e apoio da Prefeitura de João Pessoa e governo da Paraíba.
Mais de 3.900 participantes, entre eles cerca de 3.300 jovens atletas de12 a14 anos, se reunirão na capital paraibana para celebrar esporte, cultura e educação. Doze modalidades farão parte do programa esportivo da mais importante competição estudantil do país. A novidade fica por conta do badminton. Haverá ainda disputas no atletismo, basquete, ciclismo, futsal, ginástica rítmica, handebol, judô, natação, tênis de mesa, vôlei e xadrez.

Desejo boa sorte aos nosso atletas… Só lamento o fato de o Ministério disponibilizar um número muito pequeno de modalidades nesse evento de tamanha magnitude para as nossas crianças, adolescentes e jovens.
O desporto é uma porta de entrada para muitos que não dispõem de meios para garantir uma boa formação, e como desportistas conseguem superar as dificuldades, as barreira impostas pela falta de oportunidade e conseguem ascensão na vida melhorando a sua condição social e humana.
É uma pena que as autoridade deem preferências para “construções” de estádios de futebol e deixem de investir em áreas que sabidamente garantem resultados extraordinários na formação e na educação das nossas crianças.
Quantos estudantes que participaram dos Jogos Escolares Maranhenses e foram Campeões não vão poder representar o nosso Estado nesse evento por pura falta de oportunidade e de visão dos nossos dirigentes? Certamente é o número muito grande e que precisa ser feito algo para corrigir essa distorção e oferecer condições para todos.
Com a palavra o Secretário, a Governadora, a Assembleia, o Ministro, o Congresso e a Presidente Dilma que tanto tem feito discursos acalorados falando de copa do mundo, de olimpíadas deixando de lado as crianças, os adolescente e os nossos jovens num momento tão importante quanto esse para os nossos atletas e para o futuro do nosso País.
